Ashtead Decorative & Fine Arts Society

Ashtead Decorative & Fine Arts Society (or "ADFAS") was founded in 1982 by its current President. It is a member society of The Arts Society (formerly known as  NADFAS), and now has over 350 members.

We meet monthly in the mornings at the Ashtead Peace Memorial Hall to enjoy lectures given by nationally renowned experts, who share their specialist knowledge of the Arts in a stimulating and entertaining way. We encompass a wide range of subjects such as fine art, sculpture, architecture, ceramics, performing arts and many others.  In addition we arrange at least one Special Interest Day when we take time to explore a topic in more depth in the company of a leading expert.

We also enjoy four or five visits each year to places of interest such as stately homes, gardens, museums and galleries. If this were not enough we also organise two short holidays each year, both in the UK and abroad, for example to cities such as Venice, Budapest and Dublin.

Additionally, we provide opportunities for hands-on volunteering such as conservation work and church recording, as well as sponsoring “young arts” projects.
