Ashtead Decorative & Fine Arts Society
  • Meets on the third Tuesday morning of the month at 10.30 a.m. at the Ashtead Peace Memorial Hall (doors open at 9.45 a.m.) for lectures by a wide variety of The Arts Society speakers who are specialists in their subject.
  • Has no meeting in August and the December meeting usually takes the form of an evening dinner with a seasonally flavoured lecture.
  • Organises four or five visits per annum to places of cultural interest including buildings of historical or architectural significance, gardens, museums and art galleries. These visits often take members to sites or events that may be less well known or to which only The Arts Society or other specially booked groups have access.
  • In addition to its own annual Study Day covering an individual subject in more depth, promotes Study days and cultural tours organised by The Arts Society nationally and The Arts Society East Surrey area. These are open to members and non-members alike.
  • Arranges popular holidays in the U.K. and abroad. This usually includes one short holiday in the UK, and one longer holiday of four or five days, alternating yearly between the UK and abroad, the latter involving visits to exciting cities such as Venice, Budapest, Bologna, Dublin and Dresden.
  • Enables members to take part in Heritage Volunteering and Church Recording activities. Also sponsors Young Arts projects.
  • Enables members to receive free The Arts Society quarterly magazine.
  • Has over 350 members.
  • Has a waiting list due to the seating constraints in the hall. Those on the waiting list are able to join us on outings and holidays if there are vacancies once the membership has been given the opportunity to book.
